Geography is the study of the earth’s landscapes, peoples, places and environments. It is, quite simply, about the world in which we live. The Geography department at Ark Elvin Academy aims to encourage all students to enquire about the world around them and think independently to provide sustainable solutions to geographical problems.
We have chosen to study the AQA specification A as this gives our pupils a wide and interesting course to engage in.
The course is made up of three units;
Unit 1 – 37.5% of GCSE grade.
- Physical Geography
- Restless Earth
- Living World
- Water on the Land
Unit 2 – 37.5% of GCSE grade.
- Human Geography
- Changing Urban Environments
Unit 3 – 25% of GCSE grade.
- Controlled assessment
The documents below give overviews of the main ideas for each of the GCSE units and topics:
You can download practice exam papers at this site: http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/geography/gcse/geography-a-9030/past-papers-and-mark-schemes
It is good practice to take the exam and then check your answers against the mark scheme which can also be found on this site.
