Professional Theatre Company Chickenshed visits Drama department for workshops & performances
On Wednesday 26th June the whole of year 8 watched the Award winning theatre company Chickenshed perform their show of ‘Crime of the Century’.
Chickenshed is the largest inclusive theatre company in the UK. The company seeks to model the power of its unique approach to theatre in communities across the country and internationally. Chickenshed’s professional theatre company creates and performs critically acclaimed theatre productions at its North London home and tours work across the UK, performing everywhere from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Wembley Area and at the Royal Albert Hall to 10 Downing Street. Alongside the professional members of the company, 650 young people are involved in Chickenshed’s Children’s Theatre, Youth Theatre, BTEC and degree programmes.
Throughout the performance pupils were witness to a storyline, which involved gangs, knife crime and the consequences of peoples actions. This led to a great open forum where pupils were able to speak to the actors and ask them questions relating to their stimulus.
The performance was followed by a workshop, where pupils explored the different Drama techniques the theatre company used to convey their message of consequences.
