GCSE RE Pupils impress during competitive debates & lectures led by Philosopher Dr Peter Vardy
On Friday a group of 17 GCSE RE pupils attended a series of lectures and debates led by philosopher Dr Peter Vardy at Bloomsbury Baptist Church. Areas covered and debated included evidence of God, the nature of creation, the image of God, sanctity of life, the ethics of reproductions, the purpose of marriage, stewardship and the environment with an open debate to close the session.
Our pupils grappled with difficult philosophical concepts throughout the day and enjoyed the challenge of learning like pupils do in a university setting. Our pupils engaged in debate with pupils from a wide range of London schools and more than held their own in debate. Peter came over at the end to comment about how impressed he was with our pupils including their clarity of thought and expression.
