“Out of this world” day at Ark Elvin Academy for intrepid local primary pupils

Talented pupils from local Wembley primary schools took part in an intergalactic writing day during a visit to Ark Elvin Academy.

Pupils from Elsley Primary School and Brentfield Primary School visited Ark Elvin Academy to take part in sessions on creative writing. During the day, the children were invited to imagine, create, and write about an imaginary planet – describing everything from the planet’s environment to the alien inhabitants.

The day was part of an outreach programme offered by Ark Elvin Academy to local primary schools, allowing students to get a taste of secondary school and brush up their writing skills.

Ark Elvin English teacher Mr Short said: “We have been working with primary pupils from the local area to help take their writing to an even higher level. All of the children came to the day with amazing ideas, a great sense of imagination and a wonderful way of expressing themselves – and what it might be like visiting another planet.

“We’ve been able to offer pupils a taste of life at secondary school, where there’s a bigger emphasis on group discussion and grappling with ideas.”

Elsley School pupil Roha Singh said: “I think today has really pushed us to write better and I’m going to take some of the things I’ve learnt today back to Elsley with me.”
