Summer School 2021
Ark Elvin Summer Camp 2021
From 16th August for two weeks we hosted between 80 and 100 Year 7 – Year 10 pupils a day at our first ever Summer Camp.
Our activities:
- Every day pupils read together form the brilliant collection ‘The Book of Hopes.’
- Pupils spent every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday taking part in activities in school, ranging from boxing to creative writing, cooking and mural painting.
- On Wednesday 18th August we too 100 pupils to London Zoo where we had a great day spotting all sorts of amazing animals.
- On Wednesday 25th August we went swimming at the Olympic Pool – our pupils braved the ‘Aqua Splash’ assault course, and some took to the canal in the swan pedal boats.
On Friday 20th August we had fun learning to write songs with the Ark Music team and on Friday 27th August we had a very special day with the Literacy Trust – pupils learned how to craft stories, make comics, write jokes and poems and be creative with language and welcomed a range of special guests.
We had a great two weeks! The summer camp formed part of the national Covid-19 recovery scheme and was funded by the Department for Education.
