Elvin students participate in Bank of America workshop
Wednesday 29 June 2022
On Friday 24th June, a group of Year 10 Elvin students took part in a workshop with interns from the Bank of America. Facilitated by Debate Mate, the workshop gave students the opportunity to interact and learn from the interns, while also flexing some of the skills they have learnt through this year’s debating enrichment club.
In the first half of the session, the students, who have all attended debating club, were asked to pitch an idea that could support their local community. Building on previous pitching experience, the students developed and delivered a presentation on opening an Ark Elvin food bank. In their pitch, students used their knowledge of the current economic climate, ideas about food waste, and their knowledge of the local community to explain how and why the food bank could benefit the local Brent community. Following the pitch, students received feedback from the Bank of America interns who were impressed with the students’ ideas and delivery.
In the second half of the session, students were able to hear from interns at the Bank of America about their experiences and their tips for entering the world of work. It was a great chance for students to learn more about some of the opportunities available to them when they leave school.
