Met Police chief visits Elvin

Community policing was up for discussion in an assembly at Elvin when a knight of the realm came to visit. More than 50 pupils formed the audience as the head of the Metropolitan Police Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe discussed his career and fielded questions. Sir Bernard talked about everything from crime detection rates, social media, his personal experience of being on the beat and how he rose to a senior role. He also discussed what sort of careers would be open to pupils upon leaving the school.

Ms Bates said: “We were delighted to host the commissioner at Ark Elvin. Our pupils had a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the Met Police’s important work in our community and to ask the Commissioner questions on the issues that are important to them.”
