Shakespeare School Festival with Ark academy and Ark John Keats 21st November

On the 21st November 2017 Elvin pupils performed an abridged version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew at the Arts depot in Finchley as part of the Shakespeare School Festival with Ark academy and Ark John Keats.

Pupils worked tirelessly learning lines, remembering choreography and exploring their characters. We set the play in 1920’s Britain amid the rise of the suffragette movement with the lead protagonist an active member of the cause who is socially ‘tamed’ into being the ideal 1920’s wife. All pupils involved explored the historical context of the period to bring the Shakespeare play alive in the stage.

I would like to congratulate all pupils involved in the performance, front and back of stage, as they have all set the bar high for future performances at Ark Elvin Academy.
