The Poetry Takeaway Van visits Elvin

On Wednesday 17th October, we were visited by the Poetry Takeaway Van in school. Year 9 and 10 students either side of lunch and students from across the school at lunchtime were able to visit the van in small groups. The van was staffed by 5 poets who, after a talking with the students, wrote a personalised and individual takeaway poem  based on their conversation. Poems covered a broad spectrum of themes suggested by our students such as: motivation, anxiety, food, family and Julius Caesar.

Demand was high and the poets commented on how interested our students are in poetry and how interesting their ideas are. The Young People's Laureate Tour is at Wembley Central Library on Tuesday October 23rd where you can further explore your ideas about poetry in workshops, hear performance poetry live or even contribute on the open mic.
