The English National Opera Takeover at Ark Elvin!

On Wednesday 18th September, The English National Opera (ENO) took over Ark Elvin with their "Opera squad takeover day".

The ENO supports schools by enriching arts provisions and connects pupils and staff to professionals working in the industry across an initial year-long residency.

The morning began in the year 9 assembly, in which the squad happily surprised, unsuspecting pupils with their projecting voices.

Year 11 performing arts and music pupils then attended a wig and makeup workshop, and composition workshop with leading professionals.

The launch of Elvin singers began, with the ENO giving a master class in Opera singing and movement, as well Elvin’s Big Band being treated to an exclusive orchestral workshop.

After lunch, year 7 were able to experience our partnership with ENO with a interactive body percussion and voice workshop, finishing the day with performances from the company.

Overall a fantastic start to our collaboration with the ENO, and inspiring many pupils to look into careers in opera that they hadn’t of thought of before yesterday.
