Year 8 Geographers have been looking at extreme weather and the impacts this can have on countries
For the Spring Term our Year 8 Geographers have been looking at extreme weather and the impacts this can have on countries. Understanding how storms form and how countries respond to extreme weather events our Geographers are starting to understand how recent weather events, such as Storm Denis, happen and what governments need to do to prepare for these sorts of events.
Students have completed an essay explaining how the government in the Philippines responded to Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 and will soon be researching how floods in Cumbria affected the lives of people in the United Kingdom. In the upcoming weeks, students will also be seeing how climate change will influence the severity and quantity of severe weather events!
