Our first ever Year 10 Futures Week on the 3rd-4th July, here at Elvin!
We kick-started our first ever Year 10 Futures Week here at Elvin
Futures Week took place on the 3rd and 4th of July 2023. The purpose of these two ambitious days is to provide all Year 10 pupils with a range of work, employability skills and future pathways so that they are well informed, make good choices about their next steps and approach Year 11 with ownership and purpose.
At the heart of our school is the belief that, given the right opportunities, students from any background can succeed at the highest levels, both at university or apprenticeships and in their future careers. In a challenging borough whereby the level of deprivation is high, we are aiming to create an outstanding post-18 destinations provision, and we are particularly proud of the achievement of those students from less advantaged backgrounds.
While academics are important and are the key to opening doors to universities or apprenticeships, it is the enormous breadth of other opportunities available to Elvin students that really set them up for success in life and sets us apart from other local schools.
Futures Week is about encouraging students to explore a range of industries and universities to strengthen their character and to develop a passion for the careers that they enter. By participating in a range of workshops and onsite visits to head offices it encouraged students to explore their own personal hinterland where it got pupils to be ambitious, ask brave questions and to discuss with experts in the field that they are interested in the different career pathways available to them.
