Homework FAQ
How long will my child spend completing homework each week?

At KS3 Students must complete the following homework per week: English, Maths, Science, French, History, Geography

The work set will be x30 minutes per subject per week (3 hours per week)

This work will be set via Microsoft teams assignments and will be set through the following learning platforms: Sparx Maths, Sparx Reader, Seneca and Language Nut

At KS3 the following subjects will set additional work that can be completed and rewarded with good homework merits: Religious Education, Computer Science, Music and D.T

The following subjects will not set additional work at KS3, instead offering a greater range of enrichment activities: Art, Music, Drama, PE and DT
How do I know what homework my child has been set?

Through the ‘My Child at School App’ you will be able to see what homework has been set and when the deadline for submission is.

Each week students will be set homework by their class teacher, and this will be recorded on their Microsoft Teams group. A laptop will be provided for every student to use to complete their homework, and this should be brought to school each day.

You can also sign up for updates on Sparx Maths/Reader and Seneca to see your child’s progress
How will the school support my child in completing their homework each week?

Students who have a strong record of homework completion and ‘Good Homework Merits’ will receive rewards throughout the year

Students who have been identified as struggling to independently complete their homework will be invited to Study Club, to help build better habits of working and support their understanding.

Students who fail to complete a piece of English, Maths, Science, French, History, Geography will receive a 30 minute correction to allow them to catch up on the missed work
How can I support my child in completing their homework each week?

Ensuring that the laptop that has been provided by the school is monitored and that you check in with your child about when they are completing their homework.

By making sure that they have a quiet space in the home to complete their work so that they can focus on the work that has been set.
