Over the course of the workshops, students worked with the Dance Artists to build their own piece using motifs from the show and their own choreography. This was a great opportunity for students to develop their creativity and self-expression through movement.
Students attended four choreography workshops with ENB Dance Artists where they explored the themes of Akram Khan’s new ballet, Creature. Over the course of the workshops, students worked with the Dance Artists to build their own piece using motifs from the show and their own choreography. This was a great opportunity for students to develop their creativity and self-expression through movement.
On Friday 24th March, pupils were able to share their work with two other participating schools at an Insights and Choreography Exchange Day at Brent Hub Community Enterprise Centre. They spent the morning in off-stage career workshops learning about stage management, costume-making and marketing. They also had a Q+A session with one of the professional dancers performing in Creature. In the afternoon, pupils from all three schools worked together to amalgamate their choreography into one stunning final piece.
The project culminated in an opportunity to see Creature live at Sadler’s Wells Theatre on Thursday 30th March. Students were captivated by the performance and loved seeing elements of what they had learned live on the stage.
Finally, the dancers treated Team Elvin to a performance of their piece at the end of term assemblies on Friday 31st March.
The project was a fantastic experience and we are excited to keep dancing at Ballet Club every Tuesday after school next term!
