In Key Stage 3, Year 7 students have been busy learning about Victorian London and the young hero, Oliver Twist. Staying in the same time era, Year 8 students are exploring how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created the great literary detective, Sherlock Holmes. Meanwhile, in Year 9, students are deepening their understanding of Victorian literature through study of Jane Eyre.

At Key Stage 4, both Years 10 and 11 are making progress in their English Literature and English Language courses. The focus is on deepening students’ confidence in analysis and work from across both year groups shows students already taking steps forward; be that in understanding Priestley’s initial presentation of Sheila Birling (‘An Inspector Calls’), or in analysing Du Maurier’s use of Gothic features in her famous opening to ‘Rebecca’.
