History summary – Y7
Year 7 students are currently studying the English Reformation. They are following the 16th century ‘religious rollercoaster’ to assess how much England’s religion changed under King Henry VIII and his three children. Year 7 pupils are becoming experts at writing like historians and using key vocabulary such as ‘disruption’ and ‘continuity’.

In Year 8 this term, Mr Mahoney’s historians are studying the impact of the Industrial Revolution on Britain. By analyzing sources and historical interpretations, pupils are building their own judgements on who benefitted the most from this significant change to British society.
History summary - Year 9
This term, Year 9 Historians have been studying examples of genocide to identify similarities and differences between them. Pupils’ first case study was the Holocaust, supported by a trip to the Imperial War Museum, before comparing the Rwandan and Cambodian genocides. Here, pupils are using their annotation skills to track the similarities and differences between case studies and to identify key information.
History summary - Year 10
Year 10 History students have recently finished their GCSE British depth study on Early Elizabethan England, 1558-88. Their final enquiry was assessing whether the Elizabethan period should be remembered as a ‘golden age’. Pupils considered social changes, exploration, and attempts at colonisation before writing up their final judgements in beautiful PEEL paragraphs!
